3The project
Redcinha Bardline lattice fence in Lyon, alternating anthracite and light oak, precise installation and impeccable finishes in a garden
Project Context
Completed in 2026 in Lyon, this intervention was commissioned by a landscaper to enhance and protect a residential garden. The program combined privacy, visual continuity, and compatibility with demanding mineral and plant layouts. The goals focused on a durable fence with a controlled aesthetic on both sides, and a vertical rhythm capable of complementing structured flower beds.
Implemented Solution
The choice was made for the Bardline fence from Redcinha®, a co-extruded composite wood with a lattice effect. The solution offers dual-sided planks installed vertically for an identical appearance on both sides, supported by aluminum posts.
Key features utilized:
- Plank dimensions: 187.2 x 19.5 mm
- Plank length: 1295 mm (possibility of 1600 mm on request)
- Controlled expansion: 2 mm/m
- UV treatment, weather resistance, 10-year warranty
- Aluminum accessories ensuring continuity and rigidity
Two colors were selected according to the areas, in harmony with the mineral and plant landscape: a charcoal gray for a sober and contemporary look, and a light oak with black grooves for a warmer tone. The system was assembled according to Redcinha® recommendations: post-plank connection profile and finishing profiles ensure the stability, flatness, and cleanliness of visible edges.
This technical choice met several professional expectations:
- Relevant dual-sided symmetry for a boundary on a shared property
- Vertical rhythm enhancing alignments and perspectives of the garden
- Minimal maintenance and dimensional stability over time
Implementation and Result
The installation was carried out with regular sections, featuring a constant spacing and a perfectly aligned high edge. The cuts are clean and protected by matching caps. The base integrates with a stable mineral support, ensuring alignment of the bottom of the panel along the entire length.
Three configurations follow to meet usage and terrain interpretation:
- Anthracite sequence: closely set vertical planks with a discreet lattice effect, bordering a mass of light gravel planted with small conifers, lavenders, and graphic plants. The contrast highlights the sobriety of the panels and the precision of the alignments.
- Light oak with black grooves sequence: spans with a warm tone interact with aligned shrubs on beige mineral mulch. The contrast of the grooves emphasizes the verticality and creates a more inviting atmosphere.
- Variation with visible aluminum posts: alternating posts and planks structure a border of Mediterranean plants, including lavenders, agaves, and small olive trees, at the edge of a dense lawn. The rhythm of the profiles stages the landscape composition.
The ensemble forms a continuous line, without visual breaks, where every detail – the squaring of the sections, regularity of gaps, and finishing of profiles – contributes to a clean and professional appearance. The lattice provides a sense of lightness while maintaining privacy, and the dual-sided design ensures a neat finish on both the garden and neighbor sides. The performances of the Redcinha® composite – low expansion, rot-proof, UV treatment – secure the aesthetic and mechanical durability expected on an urban site exposed to climatic variations.
