# Bardline Open-Slat Fence in Lyon

Project category: privacy screening
Location: Lyon, Rhône (69)
Year: 2026
## Project context Completed in 2026 in Lyon, this project was commissioned by a landscaper to enhance and define a residential garden. The brief combined privacy, visual continuity and compatibility with a carefully designed combination of hard landscaping and planting. The objectives were a fence with a consistent appearance on both sides and a vertical rhythm suited to structured planting beds. ## Solution implemented The selected solution was the **Redcinha® Bardline** fence, which combines **co-extruded wood-plastic composite slats** with an **open-slat effect**. The **slats have the same appearance on both faces**, are installed **vertically**, and are paired with **aluminium posts**. Key features used in the project: - **Slat section: 187.2 x 19.5 mm** - **Slat length: 1295 mm** (1600 mm available to order, depending on colour) - **Declared expansion: 2 mm/m** - **Warranty: 10 years** - **Dedicated aluminium posts and profiles** for the Bardline system Two shades were selected for different areas, in keeping with the hard landscaping and planting: **anthracite grey** for restrained, contemporary lines, and **light oak with black grooves** for a warmer feel. The system was assembled in accordance with Redcinha® recommendations: **post-to-slat connection profiles** and **finishing profiles** complete the structure and finish the visible edges. The choice addressed several professional considerations: - **Same appearance on both faces**, relevant for a shared property boundary - **Vertical rhythm** that highlights the garden's alignments and sightlines - **Open-slat design** that filters views rather than providing complete screening ## Installation and result Installation was carried out in regular bays, with consistent centre-to-centre post spacing and a perfectly aligned top edge. The cuts are clean and covered with matching caps. The base sits on a stable mineral substrate, keeping the bottom edge of the panels aligned along the full length. Three configurations respond to different uses and the layout of the site: - **Anthracite section**: closely spaced vertical slats with a subtle open-slat effect run alongside a bed of **light-coloured gravel**, planted with small conifers, lavender and architectural plants. The contrast highlights the restrained appearance of the panels and the precision of the alignments. - **Light oak with black grooves**: bays in a **warm tone** complement **aligned shrubs** set in beige mineral mulch. The contrasting grooves emphasise the vertical lines and create a more welcoming atmosphere. - **Variation with exposed aluminium posts**: the alternation of posts and slats structures a border of **Mediterranean plants**, including lavender, agaves and small olive trees, beside a dense lawn. The rhythm of the profiles frames the landscape composition. Together, these elements form a continuous line without visual breaks. The **squareness of the bays**, consistency of the gaps and finished profiles contribute to a neat, professional appearance. The **open-slat design** creates a sense of lightness and filters views rather than forming a solid screen, while the **same appearance on both faces** provides a consistent finish from the garden side and the side facing neighbouring properties.
